Michael Most, MD, FACS
Medical Director
Head and Neck Surgery, General Surgery
Dr. Most is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons with training in General Surgery and Head and Neck Cancer Surgery. Dr. Most completed his graduate medical training at the Technion Israel Institute of Technology and then went on to complete a 5-year residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan. Following general surgery training, he completed a fellowship in head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery. While being in practice in the Morristown area since 2007, Dr. Most has gained considerable experience dealing with general surgery emergencies, as well as head and neck benign and malignant diseases. In addition, Dr. Most has performed thousands of cervical access procedures for orthopedic and neurosurgical reconstruction of the anterior cervical spine.
Acute Care General Surgery: Dr. Most specializes in all forms of acute care general surgery, including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, abdominal exploration, laparoscopy, hernia surgery, and emergency bowel resections.
Endocrine and Head and Neck Surgery: Dr. Most’s subspecialty training is in head and neck surgery. His primary interest includes surgery for the thyroid, parathyroids, salivary glands, and other benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck. He further specializes in minimally invasive parathyroid surgery and thyroid surgery through minimal incisions.
Cervical Spine Access Surgery: Throughout Dr. Most’s career, he has performed more access to the cervical spine than any other surgeon in the area. Anterior cervical disc surgery requires an incision in the neck and identification and protection of the major anatomical structures of the neck. Common complications after ACDF surgery include poor cosmesis of the incision and difficulty swallowing. Dr. Most uses the same plastic surgical techniques for wound closure and treats and follows all patients who develop problems swallowing after this surgery.
